About us:
"Femina Potens is a non-profit arts gallery and performance space dedicated to the advancement of women and transgendered artists. First founded in 2001 by artistic director Tina Butcher and Madison Young. Butcher and Young recognized a need for greater visibility of women and transgendered artists and set out to create Femina Potens with no financial backing for the project, only a mission and a vision. Femina Potens has successfully brought the best women and transgendered artists to the community, coupling world-renowned visual and performing artists with talented new emerging artists. These multi-generational performances and exhibitions encourage newer artists to thrive while well-established artists and heroines stand on the same stage or placed on the same wall acting as mentors for fledglings." MON. 9/1 (@LEAST 1 PERSON NEEDED): We need someone here to open the gallery
at 10AM for Artist Sue Latta, to deinstall her show as well as to pack up some work by Joni Herzog's work into the crate(s) she will be sending
according to her instructions and then call her (more details will be given). This is an amzing chance to see some great art before it leaves us for good.
TUES 9/2 & WED 9/3: Come join us for a day of fixin and lovin our gallery! We will be preping the gallery for our next installation, should not be too intense some patching and painting of the walls (and I promise cookies!).
THURS 9/4: (@ LEAST 1 PERSON NEEDED): This is an evening job, we need
someone to be here when some artists will be coming by to hang their work, as well as 2. to hang some pieces from an out of state artist. This means you will get to be one of the 1st in the bay to see these works AND meet some awesome artists.
FRI 9/5 (@ LEAST 2 PEOPLE NEEDED for each):
OPEN EYES EVENT: ART XX: Come to setup and be present to set up and
supervise for the OPEN EYES EVENT: ART XX, from 6-midnight, you get to
volunteer and check out an awesome event.
SAT 9/6 (@ LEAST 2 PEOPLE NEEDED): We need some folks to come at 6PM-midnight to setup and volunteer for 'OUT OF THE BUBBLE; ARTISTS ON QUEER TRAVEL Visual Arts Opening Reception'.
show description: "A photography exhibition exploring what it looks like when people venture from their comfort zones into new territory. The photos document each artists queer experience when traveling into other locations and cultures on the globe. The images articulate what they identified and contrasted with when leaving their personal bubble. Femina Potens proudly invites you to share the photography of Dusty Lombardo, Lenore Chinn, Lydia Daniller, Kristyn Russell, Pamela Peniston, and Yuri Manabe."

volunteers you will get to see the amazing ladies Jewelle Gomez, Thea Hillman,
and Katia Noyes for FREE!!) This event will be starting at 7:30PM, so we will need people here at 6:30 to setup and then supervise.
